Akron Beacon Journal - 12/13/2018

Dec. 12--A 75-year-old man told police Tuesday evening his son choked him and stole his wallet while visiting him in his room at a nursing home.

The father told police his 38-year-old son came to visit him at ManorCare Health Services, 1211 W. Market St., and asked for some money.

The man said he told his son he only had $40, and he could only give him $20. The man said his son became upset and said $20 wasn't enough before leaving the room.

The man told police his son came back 10 minutes later and choked him before taking his wallet from his back pocket. The man said his son fled with the wallet and money.

Officers signed a warrant for domestic violence and robbery on Kahli A. Murphy, 38, of Akron. He was found at his residence, taken into custody without incident and booked into the Summit County Jail, police said.

Murphy was arraigned in Akron Municipal Court on Wednesday morning. According to court records, Murphy's bond was set at $10,000. A temporary protection order was also granted. Murphy is scheduled for a court appearance at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, according to records.
