W.M.'S LINDSAY WRIGHT GETS CHAMPION OF DISABILITY AWARD

AIM West Milford (NJ) - 5/26/2016

Lindsay Wright, of West Milford, was honored by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Passaic County Council on Disability with an award at the fifth Annual Champions for Disabilities Awards Celebration in Paterson on May 3.

Wright, who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS) herself, was chosen for the honor for providing encouragement and inspiration to individuals with disabilities and special needs. She is 26.

Her citation was signed by Freeholder Director Theodore O. Best Jr. and Cecilia Feeley of the Advisory Council on Disability. Feeley and Janice Sangle of West Milford co-chaired the awards committee.

The committee found Wright to have significantly advanced the cause of people with disabilities by being a model of perseverance and spearheading efforts as a volunteer in raising funds to help find a cure for MS.

Her latest annual effort with her 50 member Team Demyelinate at Walk MS at Ridgefield Park was again a success.

"This year we raised $12,450 - which put us in the fourth place spot in the top five fundraising teams for this walk, said Wright. "This also broke our previous fundraising total by about $5,000."

Her brother Chris Wright, who was diagnosed with MS about a year ago at age 29, walked along beside her.

"Chris and I had a wonderful time at Walk MS," Lindsay Wright said. "We are looking forward to our upcoming events. Thank you to all of our awesome supporters! We couldn't have done it without them!"

Lyndsay Wright planned to participate in MS: Coast the Coast on the weekend of May 22. She said this is a two-day fundraising event going from Monmouth University to Cape May. The ride was scheduled to start Saturday morning at the university located in West Long Branch. Wright said she would be riding 50 miles. Then, on Sunday she volunteered to cheer on her fellow cyclists.

Chris Wright and Lyndsay Wright will join forces again in June for MuckFestMS as they tackle obstacles in the mud alongside friends.

Wright invited AIM West Milford readers to contact her at LyndsayFightsMS@yahoo.com or find Lyndsay Fights MS on Facebook for further information.
