NURSE HOSPITALIZED AFTER CEDAR GROVE NURSING HOME ACCIDENT

Verona-Cedar Grove Times - 3/16/2017

An employee at a Cedar Grove nursing home was hospitalized following an accident that left her arm trapped in one of the beds late Thursday night, March 9, according to police.

A 51-year-old female nurse working at Arbor Glen Center on East Lindsley Road had her arm trapped in a motorized bed around 11:20 p.m. Thursday, Police Chief Joseph Cirasa said.

The nurse was having trouble adjusting the height of the bed and reached underneath it to try to get it to work, according to Cirasa.

"Then suddenly [the bed] dropped onto her arm so she was entrapped in the bed," he said.

The Cedar Grove Fire Department and Ambulance and Rescue Squad responded and had to cut out part of the bed to free the victim, noted Cirasa.

She suffered injuries to her right wrist and forearm and was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, the chief said.

"It was a serious injury, but I don't think it's life-threatening or any loss of limb," the chief said.
