Morning Pointe names new executive director in Clinton

Morning Pointe Senior Living has announced new leadership at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence, Clinton.

Kim (Burgess) Shallahamer was named executive director at the Alzheimer's memory care community. Shallahamer's professional experience in senior living operations and dementia care equips her to create a meaningful experience for residents and their families, according to a news release.

"We are very pleased to have Kim on board as executive director at our Morning Pointe Alzheimer's memory care community in Clinton," said Greg A. Vital, president and CEO of Morning Pointe Senior Living. "Her professional background and dedication to enriching the lives of our residents and helping them continue to have meaning and purpose are just a few of the admirable skills that makes her a great addition to our Morning Pointe leadership team." The Enoree, S.C. native received her Bachelor of Science from Lander University in Greenwood, S.C.

Shallahamer's career in senior living began with her role as an administrative assistant for Carolina Family Health Centers, and she has since held executive leadership roles with Enlivant and Thrive Senior Living. She said she fostered a love for seniors at a young age.

"My grandpa always said that our purpose was to make as meaningful as possible this life that has been bestowed upon us so that some part of us lives on," Shallahamer stated in the release. "I am blessed to have found my calling in serving seniors where I have the opportunity to fulfill that purpose every day."

Shallahamer is a licensed assisted care living facility administrator and dementia specialist trained in Teepa Snow's "Positive Approach to Care," and brings with her more than 15 years of operations and leadership experience to the Morning Pointe family. In her spare time, she enjoys attending SEC football games and spending time with her husband, Jason, and stepdaughter, Ava.
