Community agency changes name to reflect progamming

Amherst Bee - 4/19/2018

The agency formerly known as Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled has recently changed its name to Community Services for Every1.

"We are making this change to better represent the people we support," said Mindy Cervoni, president and chief executive officer. "By removing the words 'developmentally disabled,' our agency is losing our label and ensuring privacy for the people we serve and their families. We have also expanded to provide programs to people who do not necessarily need a disability to participate."

As the new name implies, Community Services accepts everyone as they are while cultivating the individual talents each person has to help them reach their fullest potential.

The agency decided to include the number "1" in its name to highlight the inclusiveness and individuality that Community Services offers to the people it supports.

"After consulting with people we serve, families, employees, board members, and funders, we decided to keep the 'Community Services' portion of our name because supporting people in the community is at the heart of what we do," said Erika Carlson, the agency's community relations specialist.

In addition to the name change, the organization has also debuted a new logo and a tagline: "Helping many. Discovering one."
