'Jersey Shore' star JWoww reveals 2-year-old son's autism diagnosis

The New York Daily News - 11/28/2018

Nov. 28--"Jersey Shore" star Jenni (JWoww) Farley revealed that her young son has been diagnosed with autism.

The reality star says 2-year-old Greyson has been making strides of late and is taking part in co-therapies each week.

"He's understanding words better which was his issue," JWoww told Hollywood Life during a recent interview. "Not that he couldn't speak, but he would never know what his shoe is or if you said, 'Greyson,' he actually didn't even know his name at one point until he was a little over 2."

JWoww, 32, said they learned of Greyson's diagnosis "recently" and that the next step is taking her son for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and speech therapy.

The TV personality did not go into specifics about the diagnosis. Doctors often determine that a child has autism by making behavioral observations and looking for symptoms, as a lab test does not exist.

JWoww previously opened up about her son dealing with speech delay on an episode of "Jersey Shore: Family Vacation" that aired in August.

She now says her son has "come so far."

"He only did 'blue' for a year and within the last two weeks he knows green, yellow, red, white and he's (doing sign language) so much more," she told Hollywood Life.

JWoww also opened up about the frustration she experienced with people assuming Greyson didn't have anything to say, or that he just let his older sister speak for him.

"It was like I was speaking another language to him," she said. "That was the frustrating part because it didn't fill in. He didn't understand what you were saying."

Greyson is the youngest of JWoww's two kids with estranged husband Roger Mathews. They also have a 4-year-old daughter named Meilani.
