Temple Grandin to speak in Athens

Dec. 03--Noted author, animal behaviorist and advocate for people living on the autism spectrum Temple Grandin will be speaking at the University of Georgia Livestock Instructional Arena on South Milledge Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Topics include animal behavior and animal agriculture.

The event is open to the public and is a learning opportunity for local 4-H and FFA club member. Tickets are $5 and available at www.extension.uga.edu/county-offices/Jackson.

Grandin is a professor of animal science at Colorado State University and is a sought-after animal welfare consultant in the livestock industry.

She is also known for sharing her personal insights on her experiences with autism. Her life story inspired the 2010 Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning semibiographical film "Temple Grandin."

Prospective attendees can become Champions for Change VIPs by completing service projects or by learning about Grandin's life. VIPs will be honored ahead of the lecture.
