Man waives case in hammer threat

Feb. 27-- Feb. 27--A Johnstown man will appear in Cambria County court, accused of threatening a woman with a hammer and then threatening to stab a 4-year-old child who is autistic, authorities said.

Adam Daniel Bailey, 24, of I Street, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday before District Judge Michael Musulin, of Johnstown. City police charged him with three counts of simple assault and two counts each of endangering the welfare of children and terroristic threats.

According to a criminal complaint, an argument broke out between the couple over Bailey not taking his medication.

Bailey allegedly grabbed a hammer and began smashing holes in the wall and told the woman "get away from me before I hurt you," the compliant said.

Bailey allegedly picked up a 1-year-old child by the ankles and threw him off the bed and then threatened to stab the 4-year-old child, the complaint said.

The Help Center and Cambria County Children and Youth Services were notified.

Bailey is free on bond.
