BRIEF: Volunteers, participants needed for Carbon Valley Half Marathon

May 06--Registration is open for the Carbon Valley's fifth annual run for autism research.

Runners and volunteers are needed for the May 20 half-marathon, 5K, relay race and fun run benefitting Children's Hospital Colorado Autism Research. The 13.1-mile run loops through Frederick and Firestone.

Race Director Brenda Ridgley in a news release said that she anticipates more than 700 participants and hopes to raise $20,000. She said to date, the race has raised more than $65,000 for the cause.

Course Director Mike Sindelar, Ridgley's brother-in-law, said in the release that the race requires more than 100 volunteers to help as course marshals, water stations attendants as well as vendor and expo helpers.

This year's presenting sponsor is Ward Electric. Additional sponsors and support are needed.
