Cape Cod Village

More than 170 supporters gathered at Cape Cod Village's UnMASKing Autism auction May 5 at the Captains' Golf Course in Brewster. The inaugural event raised more than $50,000. Proceeds will support the organization's efforts to build a 15-unit housing complex for adults with autism and a Community Resource Center in Orleans village.

"The outpouring of community support from towns across Cape Cod has been tremendous," said Cape Cod Village president Bob Jones. "In addition to community preservation grants from Brewster, Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown, we recently received a $3 million community facilities loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture."

Cape Cod Village's housing plan calls for a development that can accommodate 15 autistic adults with 24-hour supervision. The complex will be located on a 3.8-acre parcel close to Orleans center. Along with housing, Cape Cod Village will construct a community resource center that will be open to residents, and their families, local nonprofits and the neighboring community, and will offer social and training events.
