Butte County Post - 5/31/2017

SPEARFISH ? First Interstate Bank presented Special Olympics State Games of South Dakota with a $5,000 sponsorship in support of the 49th annual Summer Games that took place this past weekend, May 18th ? 20th, in Spearfish.

"This is a great event for First Interstate to support because it is a great event for the whole community to rally around, and we do" said Jennifer Yackley of the Spearfish branch. "It's wonderful to see athletes, volunteers, and fans from all across the state come together in celebration of the athletes' success."

JD Williams, a Wealth Advisor at the Sturgis branch who worked with Jennifer to procure the sponsorship, said "Being a community-based organization, it's very important to be involved in the events that shape that community."

An estimated 2,000 people, including participants, coaches, volunteers, and spectators gathered at Black Hills State University campus for this year's Summer Games, although the temperatures outside were only slightly above freezing. Over 660 athletes from across the state competed in events including volleyball, soccer, aquatics, power lifting, and track and field.
