Phoebe Hunt & The Gatherers concert to benefit Appalachian Sustainable Development

Bristol Herald Courier - 7/19/2017

KINGSPORT-Phoebe Hunt & The Gatherers will perform at the High Voltage Performance and Event Venue to benefit Appalachian Sustainable Development (ASD) on August 12.

"We are impacting economic development and addressing food insecurity," Jake Harris, ASD Board Chair and Vice President at Citizen's Bank, said in a news release. "This event will allow more people in Kingsport to learn about ASD's good work, enjoy a great musician and help us raise much needed funding."

Since 1995, ASD has served 15 counties in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The organization is nationally known and respected for its commitment to local farmers, according to the news release. ASD is transitioning Appalachia into a more resilient economy and a healthier population by exploring new economic opportunities, supporting local agriculture and connecting people with healthy food.

"Over the last 5 years, we have deepened and increased local and regional collaborations in an attempt to have greater collective impact," Harris said. 'There is a growing interest in our work as people understand and value the solutions we provide. To reach more people, this year we are executing an event strategy with a focus on smaller, more intimate experiences that are casual and more affordable."

A limited number of tickets are currently on sale for $75 per person. The ticket includes an indoor cocktail reception featuring hors d'ouvres to be prepared with local, in-season Appalachian ingredients and an open wine and beer bar.

"An Evening Under the Stars with Phoebe Hunt and the Gatherers" will be held at High Voltage, located at 101 Cherokee St., Kingsport, Tennessee, on August 12 at 5:30p.m.
