Aug. 6 is Marvel Movie Night with a screening of The Avengers. On Aug. 13, Hawthorne Musicians will present "Fight for Autism II." On Aug. 24, NASH-FM will host "Country Music Night." Aug. 27 is movie night with a screening of "Aladdin."

County parks

The Passaic CountyBoard of Chosen Freeholders in partnership with the Friends of Passaic County Parks have assembled a variety of free events for county residents. For information, call 973-225-5380. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them": Movie at 8:30 p.m. on Aug 12 at Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne.

Dog training: Classes at the new dog run in Goffle Brook Park at 6 p.m on Thursdays (except Aug. 17) and 9 a.m. on Mondays, through Aug. 28.

Fitness training sessions: Recently, Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne was outfitted with outdoor fitness equipment, supplied by a grant through the Horizon Foundation to promote exercise and healthy living. Prime and Lure Fitness are running training sessions Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. through Aug. 26 to teach residents how to properly use the equipment.

Yoga instruction: 10 a.m. on Mondays through Aug. 28 at Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne.

Hawthorne Rotary Club Food Drive

The Hawthorne Rotary Club is collecting non-perishable food donations for the North Jersey-based Rotary Military Family Assistance Center. Collections will be done Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 20, Sept. 17 and Oct. 15 at the Hawthorne Rotary table at the Hawthorne Farmer's Market in the parking lot of the Louis Bay 2nd Library, 345 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne.

Canned items to be collected include soup, pasta, meat, tuna, vegetables, fruits and beans. Boxed items to be collected include pasta and macaroni and cheese. Also accepted are noodles, rice, tomato sauce, cereal, pancake mix, jelly, oatmeal, peanut butter, coffee, tea, crackers, juice boxes, baby diapers, baby food, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent.

The MFAC also accepts donations of gift cards to food stores or big box stores. Additionally, the MFAC accepts monetary donations through the Walter D. Head Foundation (contact a Hawthorne Rotary Club member for details on how to submit a donation http://hawthornerotary.org/). When making a donation, please specify that it should be earmarked for the MFAC. The Walter D. County Clerk outreach services

Passaic County Clerk Kristin M. Corrado and Veterans Officer John Harris will be at the following locations to process Passport applications, and issue notary oaths and veteran photo I.D. cards. For information on fees and requirements, call 973-881-4788 or visit passaiccountynj.org.

North Haledon Municipal Building, 103 Overlook Ave., from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 29.

Hawthorne Municipal Building, 445 Lafayette Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month through 2017. Next session is Aug. 8.

Democrats for Hawthorne

Panel discussion titled "Everything you wanted to know about voting, but were afraid to ask," on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at VanDyk's Park Place, 644 Goffle Rd., Hawthorne. Panel will include Passaic County Freeholder, John Bartlett, and attorneys, Naomi B. Collier and Meaghan Tuohey.

Discussion will revolve around the election process, including topics such as deadlines for voter registration, voting by mail, early in-person voting, first-time voter registration, and changing party affiliation. A question-and-answer session will follow the panel's discussion. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Top workplaces: Surveys have begun for this partnership between Workplace Dynamics and North Jersey Media Group to identify the Top Workplaces in Bergen County for 2017. Workplace Dynamics solicits businesses in Bergen county to participate in their qualified, measurable survey regarding the company's current state. North Jersey Media Group will publish a special journal highlighting the winners of Top Workplace status and produce an event in November recognizing the individuals and leaders within those companies.
