Locals Invited To Blazing Trails For Autism Run/Walk

Glen Cove Record Pilot - 10/17/2017

Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Brookville, Glen Head and Locust Valley runners and walkers who want to support the Eden II and Genesis Programs, a premier autism agency are cordially invited to join the cause at Great Neck South High School on Saturday, Nov. 18, for the Blazing Trails for Autism 4 Mile Run/Walk and 1.5 Mile Walk.

The challenging but fair four mile course starts on the south service road of the Long Island Expressway and covers residential roads in Lake Success before returning to the beautiful Great Neck South Campus to finish on the high school track. There will be a 1.5 mile Fun Walk that will also be available for those who don't want to try the four mile distance. Both races start promptly at 9 a.m.

The entire net proceeds of this event will benefit the Eden II and Genesis Foundation and its mission to support people with autism throughout their lives to achieve their full potential through service, science and passion.

Every entrant in either the run or the walk will receive a unique commemorative hooded sweatshirt.

Awards in the 4 Mile Run will be given to the top male and female overall finishers, the top male and female masters finishers, the top three male and female finishers in each of 17 age groups ranging from 12 and under through 85 and over, the top three Clydesdale and Athena finishers in each of two Weight Divisions, and the top three wheelchair finishers.

Timing and scoring will be provided by JMS Racing Services, using the RFID computerized timing system with the throwaway chip attached to your bib number.

There will be some great post race refreshments, including the ever popular array of baked goods supplied by All Round Foods, and music and entertainment will be provided throughout the morning by Connoisseur Media. There will be a giant post-run raffle, highlighted by a road bike with helmet and accessories valued at more than $500 generously donated by Andrew Motola, owner of Brickwell Cycling/Multisports.
