New program director joins YWCA team

Jan. 26--CLINTON -- YWCA Clinton announced this week an addition of a new program director to its team.

Laura Burget recently joined YWCA Clinton as the new Empowerment Center Director. Burget has been in the community for three years and brings with her experience in coordinating services and providing care to autistic children, adults with intellectual disabilities and the elderly.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work for YWCA Clinton, with over 100 years of history serving women, children and families in our community; I am proud to be a part of the team. My desire, as the Empowerment Center Director, is to support those at risk for homelessness or who may already be experiencing homelessness in our community. I look forward to collaborating with community members and staff to ensure that YWCA Clinton continues to be a beacon of light to those in need in Clinton and Jackson counties," Burget said.

YWCA Clinton's Executive Director Shannon Sander-Welzien shared Burget's outlook.

"We are thrilled to have Laura join our team," Sander-Welzien said. "She has a long history of compassionate work and caring for community members, and she is the perfect fit for this position. Laura is passionate about helping people in need and will no doubt do great things for the people we serve."

The YWCA Empowerment Center provides financial assistance and long-term case management services to individuals and families in Clinton and Jackson counties who are experiencing or threatened with homelessness through its Rapid Rehousing and Homelessness Prevention programs.
