BRIEF: Autistic boy's family desperately seeks return of lost therapy dog

Austin American-Statesman - 4/4/2018

April 04--When an autistic boy loses his therapy dog, how far would his parents go to get him back? Jacob and Tara Calloway are offering up their 2008 Dodge Durango SUV, "title in hand."

The parents posted on the Austin Lost and Found Pets Facebook page on Monday, offering a $500 reward for information about the lost dog who is "more than a dog to us, he is a major part of our family" and the SUV for his return. The family lives near Parmer Lane and Metric Boulevard.

Jacob Calloway, who has the same name as his dad, has autism and suffers from seizures. The four-year-old dog, Munsta Boi, sleeps next to Jacob and alerts the family if the 12-year-old boy moves too much in his sleep.

The Facebook post has been shared more than 1,200 times.

KXAN reported on the story Tuesday: "Our dog sleeps beside (Jacob) every night," Tara Calloway told KXAN. "It is my son's routine and anyone that knows kids with autism, they are all about routine. This has turned my son's world upside down."

The family has asked that anyone who has information call them at (512) 803-9892.
