BRIEF: Two Cuyahoga Falls pathologists to present at national conference

Akron Beacon Journal - 4/13/2018

April 13--CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Two speech-language pathologists at the Summit Educational Service Center will make a presentation at the 2018 Milestones National Autism Conference at the Cleveland I-X Center.

Jamie Harding and Lauren Hagenbuch will discuss the value of using a core word approach when teaching Augmentative & Alternative Communication.

"We hope to show how a focus on teaching and using core words can help individuals move beyond basic requesting and labeling skills," Hagenbuch said in a prepared statement. "We also want individuals, families, therapists and teachers to see how the same 'core vocabulary' words can be used in a variety of settings to achieve more communication functions, such as commenting, directing, protesting and describing."

The women will deliver their presentation June 15.
