ASD provides summer meals

With the arrival of summer, the Alma School District is ready to assist children who receive free or reduced priced meals in school in eating healthy while school is out.

ASD will provide free meals to children during the summer.

Camp Airedale will offer breakfast from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Alma Middle SchoolJune 4-21, Mondays through Thursdays. There is no cost to attend for anyone age 18 or younger. Adults who accompany children can eat for $3.60.

Additionally, the Airedale Book Express will run from June 4 until Aug. 3 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday to hand out free meals.

On Mondays, stops will be at Lost Valley Lane at 9:15 a.m., Beach Acres at 9:45, Highway to Heaven Church on Lost Beach Road at 10, Arkhola Road at 10:15, Old Concord Road at 11, Ready, Set, Grow Daycare at 11:30, Alma Garden Apartments at 11:45, Blue Horseshoe Apartments at 12:45 p.m., Railroad Street at 1, Alma South Apartments at 1:15, Long Street at 1:35, Seals Street at 1:45, Harris Drive at 2, Gardenwalk Apartments at 2:30, Chitwood Apartments at 2:45, East Street at 3 and Mulberry Street at 3:15.

Wednesday stops will be Kings Point Apartments at 9:15 a.m., Lindenwood Apartments at 9:30, Sunrise Mobile Home Park at 9:45, Rudy Store at 10, Collum West Subdivision at 10:35, Pin Oak Subdivision at 11, Rudy Road Apartments at 11:15, Alma Garden Apartments at 11:45, Blue Horseshoe Apartments at 12:45 p.m., Railroad Street at 1, Alma South Apartments at 1:15, Long Street at 1:35, Seals Street at 1:45, Harris Drive at 2, Gardenwalk Apartments at 2:30, Chitwood Apartments at 2:45, East Street at 3 and Mulberry Street at 3:15.

On Fridays, stop will be Riley Subdivision at 9:15 a.m., Orrick and Lamb Road at 10, Reed Lane at 10:20, Red Hill Road at 10:45, Proter Place in Dyer at 11, Loomis at 11:20, Main Street in Dyer at 11:30, Alma Garden Apartments at 11:45, Blue Horseshoe Apartments at 12:45 p.m., Railroad Street at 1, Alma South Apartments at 1:15, Long Street at 1:35, Seals Street at 1:45, Harris Drive at 2, Gardenwalk Apartments at 2:30, Chitwood Apartments at 2:45, East Street at 3 and Mulberry Street at 3:15.

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations to provide free meals to children when school it out for the summer.
