June 17--Pilot program seeks candidates

TRAVERSE CITY -- Job candidates are needed to participate in the pilot program Traverse Bay Area Neurodiversity Employment. This opportunity is for anyone with Asperger's Syndrome who is having difficulty finding or holding a job. The program includes employee-employer support for a year. Register through the Autism Alliance of Michigan website.

Host families needed

TRAVERSE CITY -- ASSE International Student Exchange Program is looking for families to host boys and girls ages 15-18 from a variety of countries. Senior Summer Camp begins

Opioid discussion

LELAND -- Sheriff Michael Borkovich will discuss "How Can Seniors Help with the Opioid Problem" at noon June 20 at the Bluebird during the Leelanau County Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel meeting. Members should bring non-perishable items for local food pantries.

Class of 1955 event

TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City Central High School Class of 1955 will meet from 12:30-2:30 p.m.June 20 at the Elks Lodge. All class members are invited to attend. This event occurs on the third Wednesday of each month through November. Questions: 231-947-8692.

State capitol presentation

FIFE LAKE -- Michigan State Capitol Historian and Curator Valerie Marvin will speak at 7 p.m.June 20 at Fife Lake Library. Marvin will discuss "Construction, Evolution, Restoration, Renewal" of the capitol building. Fife Lake Area Historical Society is presenting this event.

Garden volunteers needed

TRAVERSE CITY -- Grand Traverse Area Children's Garden seeks volunteers to cook, work on arts and crafts and greet visitors in the afternoons and evenings. Outdoor yoga

BELLAIRE -- All ages and abilities are welcome to outdoor yoga at 10 a.m.June 21 at Grass River Natural Area. This class features stretching and breathing exercises. Participants should bring a yoga mat. Cost is $5.

EMPIRE -- Yoga instructor Amy White offers a core and restore class at 10 a.m.June 21 at Empire Township Hall. Beginning and intermediate yogis are welcome to learn gentle poses and breathing techniques. Classes run for eight weeks.

TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City High School Class of 1957 will meet for a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.June 21 at Elks Lodge. All class members are invited to attend.
