Niagara Gazette - 11/20/2018

Nov. 20--A Middleport woman admitted in Niagara County Court Monday to sexually abusing a girl younger than 11 years old.

Melinda Rich, 56, pleaded guilty, before being indicted, to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. Rich admitted to engaging in sexual conduct with the victim at least twice between June 2015 and March 2017.

Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon agreed to cap Rich's punishment at 15 years in prison when she is sentenced Jan. 11.

Rich agreed, as a condition of the plea offer, to cooperate in the ongoing case against two co-defendants, Robert C. Wood, 55, and Elizabeth M. Wood, 28. Robert Wood has been charged with first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child, and Elizabeth Wood has been charged with third-degree aggravated sexual abuse.
