49ers release Reuben Foster after latest domestic violence arrest

San Jose Mercury News - 11/25/2018

Nov. 25--TAMPA -- Foster, a 2017 first-round draft pick, had similar charges dropped against him earlier this year in Santa Clara County Superior Court.

He was arrested at 9:10 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt, which is located about 5 miles from Raymond James Stadium, where the 49ers will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today.

A statement released from Tampa police said officers responded to a domestic violence call at the hotel involving an argument between Foster and a 28-year-old woman with whom he had an "on-again-off-again relationship" for the past three years.

"The victim stated that during the altercation Foster slapped her phone out of her hand, pushed her in the chest area, and slapped her with an open hand on the right side of her face," wrote Tampa police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor. "Officers observed a one inch scratch on the victim's left collar bone."

McGregor wrote that Foster was charged with one count of first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence. Jail records show he was booked into Hillsborough County jail on the other side of downtown at 11:11 p.m.

Foster could not post immediate bond as he could not appear before a judge until today.
