CRIME REPORT: Man arrested for alleged sexual abuse

Nov. 29--Estill County Sheriff's Department arrested an Irvine man on a Madison County warrant Tuesday that charges him with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse (victim younger than 12) and second-degree sodomy.

According to the warrant, between March 2007 and May 2014 in Madison County, Jerry Anglin, 53, subjected the victim to sexual contact. The victim said Anglin fondled them when they were 6 years old.

Several weeks later, Anglin touched the victim sexually and also kissed their mouth and neck, the warrant states.

The victim told Madison County deputies that in 2014, Anglin kissed the victim's mouth and upper body in addition to having the victim perform sexual acts, according to the warrant.

Anglin was arrested in Irvine and was taken to the Madison County Detention Center, where he remained Wednesday afternoon, according to online jail records.

Richmond police arrested Ida Smith, 57, Cimarron Road, Richmond, on a Laurel County warrant for theft by deception (less than $10,000) Wednesday afternoon.

According to the warrant, on June 26, Smith issued a check to a fireworks stand in the amount of $6,718, and she received items on behalf of her son. However, the check was not honored by her bank because of non-sufficient funds.

Smith was arrested on East Main Street and was taken to the MCDC. She was released Wednesday afternoon shortly after being booked into jail, according to online jail records.

Berea police arrested Ronica Shannon, 38, of Allie Court, Berea, for careless driving, operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol/etc. and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Officers saw her driving on North Richmond Road last Tuesday, and she was crossing the center lane and the fog lane, weaving back and forth, according to a citation. Officers pulled her over, and she seemed confused.

Shannon couldn't find proof of insurance and began to get frustrated, the citation states. Officers asked her to step out of the vehicle, and they performed field sobriety tests, which she failed.

Shannon also had a young child in the vehicle, the citation states. She was arrested and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for a blood draw, which she refused. Shannon was then taken to the MCDC and was released Nov. 21.

Madison County deputies arrested Lavonne Gandolfo, 54, Springhurst Drive, for buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine), prescription controlled substance not properly contained and illegal possession of a legend drug after they responded to a complaint of a vehicle selling narcotics.

Deputies arrived to Battlefield Memorial Highway, where the vehicle left a residence, according to a citation. Deputies saw it not use a turn signal and disregard a stop sign while turning onto Highway 421.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle, and Gandolfo, who was a passenger, said the driver put something in her purse. A police dog was called and alerted on the purse in two different spots.

Deputies searched the purse and found a methamphetamine pipe and a bag with a crystal substance, as well as an envelope with a number of gabapentin pills and a prescription medicine that isn't a controlled substance.

Gandolfo was taken to the MCDC, where she remained Wednesday afternoon, according to online jail records.

Madison County deputies arrested Joshua Botkin, 32, Miller Drive, Richmond, for driving on DUI suspended license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to produce insurance card and first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine) Monday evening.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle Botkin was driving to get proof of insurance, and then found out that Botkin had a suspended license on a third DUI offense, according to a citation.

Botkin couldn't provide officers with an insurance card and was arrested for the suspension, the citation states.

A police dog was called to the scene, and it alerted to the driver seat, according to the citation. Deputies found a methamphetamine pipe between two seats. The pipe had a white crystal inside of it.

Botkin was taken to the MCDC, where he remained Wednesday afternoon, according to online jail records.

Richmond police arrested Stephanie Madden, 33, Sweetwater Road, Berea, for resisting arrest and public intoxication by a controlled substance after officers were called to Foxhaven Drive because she was possibly intoxicated.

The caller said Madden had been in a vehicle from 11 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to a citation. The caller also said Madden was acting odd.

Officers responded and saw Madden going through the trunk of a vehicle, and she had white powder around her mouth, as well as pinpoint pupils, the citation states. Officers asked if she had taken heroin or pills, and she said pills, specifically, neurontin. She said she had a prescription for it.

Officers told Madden to stop going through the trunk, but she ignored them, the citation states. Officers asked her to stop again, and she reached into her pockets. Police grabbed her wrists and told her to put her hands behind her back.

Madden pulled away from officers, and they had to bring her to the ground, the citation states. She continued to resist, and more officers responded to assist in arresting her. Once arrested, Madden also admitted to taking methamphetamine and smoking marijuana.

Madden was taken to the MCDC, where she remained Wednesday afternoon, according to online jail records.

Richmond police arrested Jhelon Beasley, 26, Four Mile Avenue, Richmond, for public intoxication by a controlled substance after it was reported that he was yelling, hitting himself and rolling in the grass Monday afternoon.

Officers arrived and saw Beasley sitting in the parking lot of Speedway on Merrick Drive, according to a citation. When officers talked to him, they noticed he had slurred speech, droopy eyelids, drowsiness and a very dry mouth.

Beasley admitted he took marijuana, along with a pill, but he couldn't remember what type of pill it was, the citation states. He then struggled to keep his balance while walking to the police car.

Beasley was taken to the MCDC. He was released Wednesday, according to online jail records.
