Savannah Morning News - 12/10/2018

Dec. 07--The suspect in a Richmond Hill domestic violence incident, originally charged with aggravated assault, has now been charged with murder.

Richmond Hill Police responded to a domestic violence call early Sunday afternoon at a Casey Drive location. Within seven minutes, the suspect, Steven Michael Vaughn, Jr., 37, had been located and detained by the RHPD.

The RHPD requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation assist with the investigation.

The GBI's investigation began as an assault investigation where Vaughn engaged in an altercation with Richard William Bolin, Jr., 55. Bolin subsequently died Dec. 6 as a result of injuries sustained during the altercation.

"We took an aggravated battery warrant to start out with because that is all we had, now we have murder," said GBI Special Agent in Charge John Durden Friday.

Vaughn was originally charged with aggravated battery on Dec. 3, on Dec. 7, after an autopsy of Bolin, he was charged with murder.

Preliminary results of the autopsy indicate that Bolin died of blunt force trauma to the head.
