Man accused of molesting 11 year old girl

Feb. 28-- Feb. 28--A Shelby man is accused of multiple sexual offenses against a preteen over a span of three years.

Eric Gene Hallman, 42, of Borders Road, was charged Monday in the case after the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office investigators were made aware of his alleged statutory rape of an 11-year-old girl.

The incidents started taking place around November 2016 and continued until the girl was 13.

Investigators believe the two knew each other for several years prior to the allegations. It is also believed that this was an isolated incident.

Hallman is charged with indecent liberties with a child, four counts of statutory sex offense of a child by an adult and two counts of statutory rape of a child.

He is held in Cleveland County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
