Man who supplied alcohol to juveniles now facing rape charge

Times-Tribune - 3/20/2019

March 20-- Mar. 20--LAUREL COUNTY -- A Corbin man already jailed for supplying alcohol to underage individuals and having sexual contact with one juvenile is now facing additional charges.

According to a press release from the Laurel County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Daniel Colinger of Corbin was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor on Monday afternoon.

The new charges came after the ongoing investigation into claims that Colinger had sexual intercourse with a female juvenile on multiple occasions and in multiple locations.

Colinger was arrested on March 8 after it was reported that he had supplied alcohol to six juveniles or persons under age 21 at least three different times. He also reportedly admitted having sexual contact with one of the female juveniles. He was charged with six counts of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree wanton endangerment.

The situation was reported to social workers with the Cabinet for Families and Children, who continued to work with law enforcement officials throughout the investigation.

Colinger was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Laurel District Court on Tuesday for the initial charges. For the additional charges placed on Monday, he was set to appear in court on Wednesday for an arraignment hearing, according to the Laurel County Correctional Center website.

Colinger remains incarcerated under $25,000 cash bond.
