A Port Orange man was sentenced on Friday to three concurrent life terms in prison after he admitted to multiple sex crimes committed on children under 12 years of age, according to the 7th Circuit State Attorney's Office.

Donald Johnston, 66, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Matt Foxman on one count of sexual battery on a minor and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor, according to a news release from the State Attorney's Office.

Johnston was also designated a sexual predator.

Johnston engaged in sexual activity with one child and inappropriately touched another, according to the release. He admitted to Port Orange police that he repeatedly committed these crimes.

Port Orange Police seized a laptop and a cellphone, on which Johnston said he had photographs and at least one video of the children.

"The defendant was in a position of trust with our child victims. The defendant used the victims' vulnerability to sexually abuse them," according to a statement from State Attorney R.J. Larizza. "It is my hope that this lifelong sentence will bring some sense of relief to the victims and their family."
