Red Springs man charged with kidnapping, child abuse

Dec. 14--A Red Springs man is facing kidnapping and child abuse charges after an incident on Friday night, according to a news release from the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a kidnapping that occurred on the 3400 block of Old Lowery Road, on Friday at 9:30 p.m.

According to the release, the victim had arranged to meet her ex-boyfriend at the Thunder Valley Oasis Store to discuss their children. While speaking with her ex-boyfriend, the victim was forced into a white jeep and the subject fled. The oldest child was in the vehicle and an infant was in the arms of the victim at the time, the release said.

The subject was arrested on Saturday at approximately 3:30 a.m., according to the statement.

Brent Sanderson, 25, of Red Springs, is charged with second degree kidnapping and misdemeanor child abuse, according to the release. Sanderson is being held in the Robeson County Detention Center with no bond.

The Scotland County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
