Waynoka man charged with domestic abuse

A reported domestic altercation in Waynoka landed a man with a felony charge in Woods County.

According to court documents, on March 2 about 7:10 p.m.Waynoka Police Officer Misty Smiley received a report of a woman at the police department needing to talk to an officer. When she arrived, Shy-Ann Swanson met her in the parking lot.

Swanson told Officer Smiley she lives with Joshua Davis in Waynoka, and he kicked her out of the house but would not let her have her kids. He is not biologically related to the children. Swanson said when she tried to go back to get her kids, Davis grabbed her by her neck and the collar area of her shirt and shoved her out the front door. She said as she was being shoved out the door, she hit her arms. Smiley observed marks on Swanson's neck and arms consistent with her statement.

As Smiley was leaving to go to the residence, she saw a pickup drive east on Santa Fe in front of the police department. Swanson said that was Davis driving the pickup. Smiley got in her patrol vehicle, activated her lights and sirens and followed Davis north on Highway 45. Davis pulled to the right and was ordered out of the pickup.

Davis was arrested for domestic assault and battery and transported to the Woods County Jail where he was booked and confined.

Joshua James Davis, 26, of Waynoka has been charged with domestic abuse ? assault and battery ? second/subsequent offense, a felony. This crime is punishable by imprisonment up to four years or a fine of $5,000.
