BRIEF: Trial starting for two charged with sexual assault of child
Greenville Herald-Banner - 4/2/2017
April 02--Trial is set to begin this week for two suspects charged with multiple sexual assaults of a child.
Jury selection is scheduled conducted Monday in the 196th District Court for Derrick LeKeith Roque of Lancaster, who has been indicted on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child and Hellen Ann Holbert, of Greenville, who has been indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Both have pleaded not guilty.
Roque, alongside Hellen Ann Holbert are alleged to have sexually assaulted a female victim of less than 17 years of age between June 1 and Sept. 1, 2012.
The charges are first degree felonies, carrying a maximum punishment upon conviction of from five to 99 years to life in prison.
The Hunt County District Attorney's Office is seeking to prosecute Roque as a repeat offender, which would raise the maximum punishment upon conviction to 15 to 99 years to life in prison.
