Level 3 Sex Offender Moves to Chehalis

The Chronicle - 4/4/2017

April 04--The Lewis County Sheriff's Office announced this week that a Level 3 sex offender recently registered at an address on Northeast Franklin Avenue in Chehalis.

Rodney M. Matlock, 59, is required to register as a sex offender due to a 2000 conviction in Lewis County Superior Court for first-degree child rape. Matlock was convicted for having sexual contact with a 9-year-old boy when he was 41 years old. As a result of the conviction, Matlock was sentenced to 20 years in prison, according to the Sheriff's Office.

In 1991, Matlock was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison for first-degree sex abuse in Clatsop County, Oregon. The conviction stems from when he was 29 years old and had sexual contact with a 6-year old girl. He was released on March 28 and will be supervised by the Washington State Department of Corrections for three years.

Based on the convictions, Matlock presents a clear risk to the community, according to the Sheriff's Office, though he is not wanted at this time.

Matlock is described as a white male standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes. He recently registered at an address in the 600 block of Northeast Franklin Avenue in Chehalis, according to the Sheriff's Office.
