Man jailed on child molesting charge

Greensburg Daily News - 5/5/2017

May 05--GREENSBURG -- A Greensburg man was arrested Wednesday on the suspicion he molested a 5-year-old girl.

Julian K. Myers, 35, 100 block of W. Sheridan, Greensburg, was jailed following an investigation into claims by the child that Myers molested her "multiple times" by touching her inappropriately while she was a guest in his home, according to court documents.

Police believe the incidents occurred at some point between April and September 2015.

The investigation began after the child told adults close to her of the alleged incidents. The girl later met with a Child Protective Services agent at the Children's Advocacy Center in Dillsboro for a recorded interview that detailed the allegations. She said Myers told her not to tell anyone about the incidents.

Police met with relatives who said they believed the allegations were credible then met with Myers at the Greensburg Police Department for a voluntary interview.

Myers denied the accusations against him when he spoke with police but declined to take a polygraph examination, police said. Investigators wrote in court documents that Myers appeared "deceptive" when he spoke with them.

A charge of child molesting, a Level 1 felony, was filed against Myers April 25 in Decatur County Superior Court. In the State of Indiana, a Level 1 felony carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison in the event of a conviction.

Myers had yet to appear in court for his initial hearing at press time Thursday, and it was unclear if he had an attorney. No bond had been set for his release.
