Man arrested for repeated abuse of ex

Herald and News - 5/12/2017

A Klamath Falls man has been arrested for multiple instances of abuse, including sexual assault, against his ex-girlfriend that took place two years ago.

Jesse Geranimo Gil, 26, was arrested Wednesday for incidents taking place during August and September of 2015.

An indictment against Gil claims he forced sexual contact on the victim, 27, Aug. 1, 2015; seriously injured the victim by striking her in the face Aug. 30, 2015; and strangled the victim Sept. 26, 2015, in the presence of their children. Gil also allegedly compelled the victim during the latter attack to ingest methamphetamine under threat of violence.

According to court records, the victim fled their residence after the Sept. 26, 2015, incident with their two children, causing Gil to repeatedly call 911 demanding to know where the victim and the children were. He later pleaded guilty to a charge of improper use of 911 and was fined $150.

Prosecutors said these incidents were part of a pattern of violence against the victim. They said the victim came forward because Gil was allegedly stalking her after she moved out of the area and she was afraid for her safety.

Gil was indicted May 1 taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.

He pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of first-degree rape, second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, fourth-degree domestic assault, strangulation, coercion and menacing. Attorney Scott Carter was appointed to represent Gil and his next scheduled court date is May 23 before Judge Roxanne Osborne.

If found guilty, Gil faces a minimum of 100 months in prison. He was ordered held on $50,000 and to have no contact with the victim.

Gil’s arrest could result in a probation violation in a separate case involving the theft of property from Walmart in December. Gill was convicted of first-degree theft April 4 and sentenced to 18 months of probation.
