BRIEF: Victorville man, 75, sentenced to 15 years to life for child molestation

May 13--VICTORVILLE -- A 75-year-old Victorville man convicted of sexually molesting a 9-year-old girl was sentenced to state prison Friday.
A jury convicted Richard Gomez Ruiz on a count of sexual penetration of a child 10 years or younger on April 6, court records show.
"75-year-old Richard Ruiz was sentenced to 15 years to life for child sexual assault," the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office said on Twitter.
Ruiz was arrested in September of 2014 after a mother called authorities and said that her daughter was possibly molested. He was an acquaintance of the girl's family, according to a previous Daily Press report.
Ruiz remains in custody at the West Valley Detention Center, according to booking records. No other information was available.
