Man wanted for felony assault captured in Missouri liquor store UPDATED

Faribault Daily News - 5/22/2017

Bail investigators have apprehended a man charged in Rice County with felony domestic assault by strangulation.

According to a press release from U.S. Fugitive Apprehension, its investigators took Matthew Dale Ceplecha, 32, into custody Saturday after finding him in Republic, Missouri, southwest of Springfield. Ceplecha was reportedly discovered going into an area liquor store and was apprehended without incident.

He failed to appear in court April 14 on the domestic assault charge and a misdemeanor domestic assault charge, both filed in November 2016, according to Rice County records. A warrant for his arrest was issued later that day.

Ceplecha was charged following a reported domestic assault. A caller told officers she had come to visit a friend and saw the friend being assaulted by Ceplecha, according to a Nov. 18. 2016 Faribault Police newsletter. The caller told police Ceplecha had his hands around the victim's throat.

Ceplecha reportedly fled the residence when he realized police were being called. He was arrested four days later.

Ceplecha arrived at the Rice County Adult Detention Center at Saturday evening.

According to Rice County records, Ceplecha pleaded not guilty to both charges in January.
