ELDER ABUSE SEMINAR

The Passaic County Department of Disabilities, Veterans and Senior Citizens will be holding a free seminar on Identifying and Preventing Elder Abuse at 930 Riverside Drive, Suite 200, on June 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. This seminar by Adult Protective Services is open to seniors, caregivers or other interested parties. For more information call 973-569-4060.

St. Paul Leisure Club

The club will hold its annual installation luncheon on June 28 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Brownstone House. Join us as we thank our current officers and welcome a new slate of officers for the coming year. There will be an open bar (noon to 1 p.m.) followed by a family style meal. Peter Lieberman will provide musical entertainment. Price is $40 per person. A bus is available ($2 cash) for those who prefer not to drive. Sands Casino trip: July 5. Come try your luck at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pa. The bus will leave St. Paul Church (corner of 2nd Street and Union Ave.) at 10 a.m. Price is $30 per person. You get back $20 in comps.

Leisure Club/Rotary Society Combined Social: July 12 and Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Church Hall located at the corner of Union Ave and Second Street. Please bring a dessert item to share with others. The clubs will provide coffee and tea. It's a good chance to enjoy some friendly conversation and play a little bingo. No meetings will be held until September.

Musical entertainment: Come along to the "Mansion at Mountain Lakes" on Aug. 24 for a trip down memory lane with the music of the Jersey Dreamers for their "On the Boardwalk" show. Enjoy the music of Joe Zisa and Friends Band (featuring the GB's band), special guests and comedy. The menu includes: salad, pasta, turkey with dressing, roast beef, vegetables, potatoes, dessert, and coffee or tea. Two drinks are included. Senior Keyboarding Class

The Clifton Senior Advisory Committee will offer Introduction to Computer Keyboarding on Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24 and Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at the Clifton Main Library. Each period is four weeks and students are expected to attend all four sessions, which include in-class and homework lessons. The cost is $10 and completion will suffice to meet the keyboard knowledge prerequisite for enrollment in the Introduction to Computers course which will be run next spring. Limited to 10 people due to equipment limitations. Registration required. Open to Clifton seniors 60 and older who posses a Clifton Library card. Registration begins July 1 and can be done by contacting Kathy Grimshaw at the Clifton Library.

St. Philip the Apostle Prime Timers

Due to the Labor Day weekend, St. Philip's Prime Timers will hold their next monthly meeting on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Malloy Center on St. Philip's Drive. Dues for the 2017-2018 year can be brought to this meeting. The club will then hold regular meetings the first Friday of every month at 1 p.m.. Meetings are open to any parishioner of St. Philip's and their friends age 50 and over. Guests may attend a maximum of two meetings before joining.

Atlantic City trips: July 13 and Aug. 10 to Resorts Casino. Cost is $27 per person per trip. Bus leaves at 9:30 a.m. For tickets, call Sylvia at 973-742-9286.

St. Thomas the Apostle

Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pa: July 19. Cost is $32 which includes bus, driver tip and bus snacks. You receive $20 free slot money and a $5 food coupon. Bus will leave at 9:30 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. There is a $10 sign-up fee; balance is due by June 19.

Reeves Reed Arboretum, Lunch at Basilico Restaurant, Greenwood Gardens in Millburn: Leaves at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 15. Cost is $76 which includes entrance fees and tours of aboretum and gardens, lunch and gratuity at restaurant, bus and driver tip. Cost is $20 upon sign-up; balance is due Aug. 7.

St. Nicholas Ukrainian Senior Club

The St. Nicholas Ukrainian Senior Club offers trips to Atlantic City every third Wednesday of each month. Trip dates are July 19, Aug. 16, Sept. 20 and Oct. 18. Bus leaves the church parking lot on President Street in Passaic at 9 a.m. For reservations, call Lesia at 973-546-3001.

Clifton Senior Center

The Clifton Senior Center is located at 900 Clifton Ave. The following events are scheduled:

Trip to NY Botanical Gardens: Aug. 2, a trip to view work by artist Dale Chihuly. The cost of $40 per person includes admission to gardens and private bus transportation to and from pick-up point (Masonic Temple, 1510 Van Houten Ave., Clifton). Lunch on own on site at Pine Tree Café or Hudson Garden Grill (reservations only). Please register with Phyllis Brunetti by July 19 by calling 973-779-2903. We need 30 seniors. No refunds.

Stretch exercise class: With Lorrain Salerno, certified instructor. Thursdays through Aug. 3 from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Cost is $50 (cash) per person per program (no refunds). Call Lorrain Salerno at 973-220-4849 for more information and to register. These stretch classes are also held throughout the year on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

Trip to Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton Township: July 26. Cost is $45 per person and includes admission to venue, guided tours and private bus transportation. Depart at 9 a.m. from Masonic Temple, 1510 Van Houten Ave., Clifton and return at approximately 5:30 p.m. There are refunds and no cancellation due to inclement weather. We need 30 participants so if you're interested, please register with Phyllis Brunetti by July 5. W.T.C. Travel Club

A trip to Wildwood Crest is scheduled for Sept. 17 to 21. Nightly entertainment including dinner show, special gala night finale, poolside pizza party, two Atlantic City trips, Cape May visit with group party, sightseeing dolphin cruise, round of miniature golf and ice cream. Outdoor shopping on Washington Street Mall. Enjoy free time at the pool, stroll the beach, soak up the sun. Cost is $375 per person for a double and $475 per person for single. Young at Heart Senior Club

The Young at Heart Senior Club meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month at noon at the fellowship hall at the First Presbyterian Church on Maplewood Avenue.
