Belgrade man pleads not guilty to sexually assaulting girls

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle - 6/30/2017

A Belgrade man pleaded not guilty to charges that he sexually assaulted two young girls.

Appearing in Gallatin County District Court on Wednesday morning, 57-year-old Alan Todd Ruff pleaded not guilty to four felony sex charges.

A $50,000 warrant was issued June 15 for Ruff’s arrest. Days later, he was booked into the Gallatin County jail but posted the bail immediately.

Ruff remains released while the case is pending. He was ordered to have no contact and to stay at least 1,000 feet away from the alleged victims.

According to court documents:

Last month, a woman reported to the Belgrade Police Department that she believed Ruff had sexually assaulted two young girls.

The girls, interviewed separately, told investigators that the abuse reportedly happened a few years prior at Ruff’s home in Belgrade. Both girls said Ruff sexually touched them at least two times each.

One girl said Ruff attempted to bribe her with money to let him touch her, and that he also told her not to tell anyone what he did.

Another person told a Belgrade police detective that he had walked in on Ruff with his hands down one of the girl’s pants in February.
