NGCDV hosts golf scramble

The Hartwell Sun - 7/6/2017

The Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence (NGCDV) held its fifth annual Stop Domestic Violence Golf Scramble at the Hartwell Golf Club on June 2.

Several teams participated in the event, and numerous sponsors contributed to the cause. Approximately $3,000 was raised. All that money goes back into victims' services through the NGCDV.

Katherine Reusing is the director of the NGCDV and even participated in the event herself.

"Everybody had a good time," said Reusing. "Scrambles are a lot of fun, because anybody at any level can play. If you're a great golfer or just starting out, you can still have fun at these events."

Dixon Golf held a raffle for a new driver, and prizes were awarded for categories including longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin.

The winning team consisted of Tony Couey, Steve Kelly, Jarrett Miller and Eric Spears.

There were sponsors for every hole of the scramble, and Reusing expressed great appreciation for their contributions.

"We just really appreciate everybody's support," Reusing added. "We're really lucky with all things. We have a very supportive community."

Reusing hopes to continue the event next year.
