WOMAN ALLEGEDLY RESISTS ARREST AFTER BIZARRE INCIDENT

Juneau County Star-Times - 8/31/2017

An Elroy woman faces six charges, including discharging bodily fluids at a public safety worker, after an incident Aug. 12.

Bonnee S. Young, 58, was also charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety, pointing a firearm at another, misdemeanor battery, domestic abuse, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct, domestic abuse. If she's convicted of the first charge, Young could face 12 years and six months in prison, or a $25,000 fine, or both. For the bodily fluids charge, Young could face a $10,000 fine, or imprisonment of three years and six months, or both. The additional charges are misdemeanors and carry lesser penalties.

According to a criminal complaint:

On Aug. 12, a deputy was called to a residence in the town of Wonewoc. Emergency room personnel at Mile Bluff Medical Center were concerned about a female who called the hospital multiple times asking for help and was making comments about being homicidal/suicidal.

When deputies arrived on scene, a man was waiting for them in the driveway. He stated the woman, Young, was making homicidal/suicidal threats. The man went back into the home to try and get Young to come out and told the deputies she had a firearm. When police entered the home, the man begged them not to shoot Young.

When the deputies entered the kitchen, they spotted Young. She allegedly began to yell and walk towards them with a small firearm. Both deputies fled for cover and told Young to drop the gun. When Young went outside, she fought over the gun with the man. At one point, Young allegedly had it pressed against the man's chest. Due to the man's close proximity to Young, deputies couldn't stop the threat.

The man eventually knocked the firearm from Young's right hand. As it hit the ground, Young reportedly struck the man in the face with a closed fist. The deputies closed in on Young, took her to the ground and handcuffed her. While being transported to a squad car, Young allegedly refused to stand up or walk and had to be carried to the car. She also began striking her head on the ground, causing injury.

While at the jail, Young reportedly continued to resist and be uncooperative. Due to her head injury, Young was taken to Mile Bluff. She allegedly was restrained several times by law enforcement as she continued to lash out. According to the report, Young was yelling, kicking, screaming and swearing at medical staff and law enforcement. While being treated for her injury, Young allegedly spat in the face of an Elroy police officer.

While she yelled and screamed at officers, a deputy noticed a strong odor of intoxicants on her breath. She allegedly told officers the man she fought with at the residence would be dead if she was released from custody. Once she was cleared medically, Young was returned to the Juneau County Jail.

Young will have an initial appearance Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. at the Juneau County Justice Center. A $5,000 cash bond was set Aug. 14, but Young has not posted it and remains in custody.
