Gormley, Whiting arrested

Aug. 29--Fugitive Cody Gormely has been taken into custody as of this morning Aug. 29, according to Sheriff Wallace Whittaker. Gormley was found at a residence on 1320 Stuart Chapel Road. The sheriff reported 22-year-old Kristin Whiting was also taken into custody and charged with aiding and abetting, second degree burglary and receiving stolen property.

Deputies located Whiting inside a bedroom in the residence and Gormley inside the same bedroom hiding between the bed and the wall.

A jeep stolen out of Bowling Green was located behind the vacated residence where Gormley and Whiting were found.

Authorities have been trying to locate and arrest Gormley on an active warrant ever since his indictment on Aug. 4, 2017, by a Logan County Grand Jury.

Gormley was indicted on one count of first degree rape (victim under 12-years old age), one count of first degree sexual abuse, and one count of first degree persistent felony offender. The Logan County Grand Jury set bond at $45,000 cash for Gormley, however, his bond will be decided by a judge after he is apprehended.

According to the indictment, on or between May 1, 2017, and May 23, 2017, Gormley knowingly and unlawfully committed first degree rape when he engaged in sexual intercourse with an 8-year-old juvenile in Logan County.

During that same time period, according to the indictment, Gormley also committed the offense of first degree sexual abuse when he placed his genitals on the 8-year-old juvenile for sexual gratification.

Gormley is charged with being a persistent felony in the first degree being over the age of 21 and having previously been convicted of the following felonies: first degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)- 2 years, receiving stolen property under $10,000- 3 years and complicity to commit burglary, third degree- 5 years. He was convicted of the crimes in Logan County Circuit Court.

Gormley was charged with additional charges of two bench warrants for failure to appear, second degree burglary, and receiving stolen property.

Both Gormley and Whiting are lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.

Gormley is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 31, 2017.
