Dating and Domestic Violence - What You Need to Know: Sept. 21, 7:30 p.m.Jean Kirch from the Center For Hope and Safety will discuss domestic violence broadly and specifically dating violence, which counts both men and women. Kirch is a skilled speaker who will share her expertise with attendees. This is an excellent opportunity for parents, teens and those who are interested in learning more about how to protect themselves and their loved ones from abuse. This program is free and open to all.

Elvis Unplugged: the King Returns to Camelot: Sept. 28, 7 p.m.Ruben Castillo will bring Elvis to life in an evening of music, history and memories. Program will focus on 1960 to 1963, when Elvis is back from the Army and returns to an America pitted in the Cold War. During this time, Elvis embraced his career as a movie star in Hollywood. Castillo will take attendees on a virtual vacation with Elvis's box office hits from the era, including "GI Blues," "Blue Hawaii" and "Fun in the Acapulco." Free and open to all. Registration requested.

Halloween costume swap: Oct. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. Drop off your used, cleaned and pressed costume at the library or the Whistle Stop Café by Oct. 10, and receive a ticket that can be used to "purchase" a costume on the day of the swap. If you don't have a costume to swap, tickets can be purchased for $5. Crafts, games and events during the swap. All proceeds will go to the Christopher Goodell Scholarship Fund. Suggested donation of $5 per family. No family will be turned away for lack of donation.

Lego donations: The library is seeking donations of Legos for use in children's programming. If you are considering getting rid of unused Legos, please think about donating them to the library. Donations accepted during regular business hours.

Museum Passes: Friends of the Waldwick Library sponsor the Museum Pass program which entitles all Waldwick residents free admission to the Aviation Hall of Fame in Teterboro; American Museum of Natural History; Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum; Yogi Berra Museum; Montclair Museum; and Morris Museum. Meditation Classes: First and third Saturday of the month, 10 a.m.Holistic Health and Wellness Coach Tracy Flaherty will give you the tools for relieving anxiety and stress, balancing emotions, and help you improve overall health/wellness. $10 per session.

Yoga Classes: Mondays at 10:30 a.m.$30 for six weeks beginning Sept. 18. Must be paid first day of class.

Afternoon Movie: Second Tuesday of the month. New titles will be shown and light refreshments will be served.

Book Groups: Copies of the books to be discussed available at the circulation desk a month before the meeting. Both clubs read a variety of fiction and nonfiction. Morning book group meets the third Thursday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Evening book group meets the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:15 p.m.

Story Time: Oct. 2 to Nov. 5. Babies meet Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., toddlers meet Monday at 10:30 a.m., and preschoolers meet Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Crazy 8s Math Club: Until Nov. 8. Grade 2 meets Tuesdays and 3 p.m. Grades 3 to 5 meet Wednesdays at 3 p.m. Build stuff, run and jump, make music and make a mess, all while learning math. No match club Oct. 31 or Nov 1.

Knitting Circle with Susan Leibowitz: This program is not to learn how to knit, but is a small group setting where you will have the opportunity to grow your knitting skills and knowledge. Registration is required. Class will meet on Oct. 5, Oct. 12, Oct. 19, Oct. 26, Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 at 11 a.m.

Barnum Finance Program: Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.Ron A. Pac and Ryan Dougherty of Barnum Finance will present "What You Need to Know to Hire a Financial Planner" and explain the different types of advisors and brokers within the industry and what the relationship with each type of advisor is like from the client's prospective.

Franklin Lakes Festival 2017: Sept. 23.

Social Security Program: Foresters Financial will present the program on Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. and address what women need to know to maximize retirement income, understand Social Security benefits and how to be prepared for what life brings.

Children's Programs

Oakland Garden Club: Oct. 12, 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. in the Pat Turnier Craft Room. Ages 5 and up. Children will be using cedar and a scarecrow to make an autumn wall hanging. Registration opens Sept. 19.

Play Ball - Baseball Craft: Sept. 28, any time between 4 and 6 p.m. Ages 3 and up. Stop by and make a variety of essential baseball tools.

Tail Waggin' Tutors: Oct. 7, 10:30 to 11 a.m. Ages 5 and up. Read a story to Gizmo, the library's newest therapy dog, along with other canines registered with Therapy Dogs International. Each child will have 10 minutes. Registration required.

Concert: Oct. 20, 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the story gallery. Featuring singer-songwriter Teri Merliss, who will present a blend of imaginative stories, original songs, and audience participation.

Adult Programs

Computer Workshops: Wednesdays, 1 to 2:30 p.m., in September and October. Call 201-337-3742 ext. 7004 to register. On Sept. 27, learn about cloudLibrary, which has replaced Overdrive, and how to create and account and borrow eBook's and eAudio. On Oct. 4, learn about Pinterest and how to find ideas for recipes, decorate, 'pin' favorites, browse the stie and more.

On Oct. 11, learn about Facebook and how to create an account, how to connect with friends and family. Basic computer knowledge and an email are required. On Oct. 18, learn the basics of Microsoft Excel 2010, how to create and format a table, sort data and more.

October Cookbook Club: Oct. 16, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Knit and Crochet Club: First and third Monday of the month, 6 to 8 p.m. New members and unfinished projects are always welcome.

2018 Degree in Bookmanship: Complete your Degree by selecting 12 library books of your choice from the selected list of categories on the reading log. After you finish each book, bring your reading log to the library to get your "course" credit. In order to graduate, reading logs must be completed and returned to the library by May 24, 2018. 'Diplomas" will be handed out at the Graduation Reception on June 7, 2018. All those who "graduate" are eligible to win a Gift Card. This program is open to adult readers. Tots Library Club: Thursdays from Sept. 21 to Dec. 14 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. followed by a 15-minute session of nursery rhymes, finger plays, and songs. Join the unstructured, early literacy experience for children ages 0 to 24-months-old and their caregivers. Registration required.

Terrific Two's and Threes Story Time: Fridays from Sept. 29 and ending Dec. 15 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. For two to three-year- olds and their caregiver. This fall season will feature special sessions focusing on music and movement as well as the traditional story and craft time.

Singing and Stories: Terrie Merliss, acclaimed singer-songwriter, will present a blend of imaginative stories, original songs, and audience participation on Fridays from Sept. 22, Oct. 20, and Nov. 17 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
