BRIEF: Boone man's sexual abuse trial delayed to January

Ames Tribune - 10/29/2017

Oct. 29--The trial for the Boone man who authorities say sexually abused two children under the age of 10 has been delayed until Jan. 17, 2018.

Santana D. Morgan, 31, was arrested in August at his Boone home and charged with four counts of sexual abuse of a minor younger than age 12, a Class B felony.

Morgan pleaded not guilty in a written arraignment May 15, and his trial was originally set for July 11 but has been delayed twice before being rescheduled last week.

Criminal complaints allege Morgan made three different forms of sexual contact with a one girl in Boone sometime between April and August 2016. The fourth count stems from having sexual contact with a second girl during the same time frame.

There is no mention in the complaints as to how Morgan knew the victims or other circumstances, such as how law enforcement got involved.

Online court records show that Morgan remains held in Boone County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
