The Argus-Press - 11/5/2017

LANSING - Matthew Garrett Slocum, co-owner of the Jersey Giant sub sandwich franchise that includes a location in Perry, Wednesday was sentenced to 10 ½ to 40 years in prison for first-degree sexual assault and possessing child sexually abusive photos, court records show.

Slocum was sentenced by Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina, who also ordered Slocum pay $798 in court costs. Slocum was given 11 days time served.

According to court files, Slocum is subjected to lifetime monitoring and must seek out group counseling for sex offenders upon

release.

Slocum was charged in May with several counts of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct, as well as charges of committing/procuring gross indecency between a male and female and possessing child sexually abusive material.

In September, Slocum pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault and possessing child sexually abusive photos. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dismissed several felony CSC

charges.

Slocum, as well as other family members, co-owns and operates 25 Jersey Giant submarine sandwich shops across Michigan, including the location inside a Sunoco truck stop at the corner of Lansing Road and M-52.
