Eagles don purple to raise awareness of domestic violence

The Daily Herald - 11/13/2017

The Sept. 29Arlington High School football game was dedicated to domestic violence awareness. Coaches wore purple hats, players wore purple socks and towels, and cheerleaders wore purple bows. Many students and other fans wore purple as well.

The Monday before the game, Tracy Van Beek shared her personal story with the football players and went over warning signs and statistics about domestic violence.

"The support I received was more then I ever could have imagined," Van Beek said. "I am a firm believer that knowledge is power, and the only way we can make a difference in this epidemic is by educating our youth."
