Filing domestic violence restraining orders becomes easier

Ex parte petition forms for temporary restraining orders (TRO) can now be dropped off at the South Kohala District Courthouse in Waimea. Victims can access the form 24/7 at the Waimea police station. After hours, the dispatch can be contacted via a phone by the door to request a TRO packet. Petitioners' address and phone number be kept confidential.

Forms are also available in the courthouse next door in the self-help section from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. A completed form and petition for TRO must be submitted together.
