BHCPD sends out ?Megan's Law' notifications

Mohave Valley Daily News - 11/23/2017

BULLHEAD CITY - The following subjects are level 2 sex offenders. The Bullhead City Police Department already has sent flyers to residents who live close to where these sex offenders reside.

"Megan's Law" requires law enforcement agencies to notify the community when level 2 and level 3 sex offenders moves into their neighborhood. A level 2 sex offender is considered someone of intermediate risk to re-offend. Level 3 is the highest level and considered the highest risk to re-offend.

The Bullhead City Police Department also explained in its press release sent out that it "believes that an informed community is a safer community" and won't "tolerate people who use the information to threaten, intimidate or harass offenders."

The department also noted that concerned residents can log on to free websites to search for level 2 and level 3 sex offenders by ZIP code, address or name. OffenderWatch can be accessed on the city's website, www.bullheadcity.com. Click on "Departments, Police, and then Community Information."

Residents can enter any address of interest and see a map and listing of offenders within their preferred radius of that address. Then they can register confidentially the address to be continuously monitored by the agency, which will send to them an email alerting them if an offender or predator should move near their registered address.

Usually, citizens will register their homes, work addresses, parks, playgrounds, bus stops or other addresses of interest. People also can register confidentially to be notified if a specific offender, who they wish to track, moves from their present address. Citizens may register as many addresses as they like, for free.
