Meathead Movers makes appearance on Megyn Kelly, talking about domestic violence

Nov. 24--SLO County Today Show watchers might have been surprised on Friday to see a couple of local faces on the morning show.

Meathead Movers founders Aaron and Evan Steed appeared on Megyn Today, hosted by Megyn Kelly, to talk about their nonprofit #MovetoEndDV.

The company offers free moving help to women who want to leave an abusive relationship. After a move in Morro Bay turned into a confrontational situation because the abuser showed up, the two brothers approached the Women's Shelter of San Luis Obispo County (now Stand Strong) to help set up the moves, so that they could offer the services more safely.

Today the San Luis Obispo-based company offers unlimited moving services to seven domestic violence shelters throughout Central and Southern California.

"We've been privy to domestic violence in our family growing up," Aaron Steed said of why he and his brother chose this cause. "When you hear someone on the other line who needs your help, is pleading, it's the right thing to do."

The brothers also described their new work with animal shelters and volunteers to help place pets owned by victims of domestic violence.

"A huge reason that keeps people from leaving their home is, 'What's going to happen with my animals?'" Aaron Steed said. "So animal shelters are actually taking those animals in, and there are actually people who have offered to take those animals in for someone who is fleeing an abusive situation as well."
