Child rapist sentenced to 90 years

Corsicana Daily Sun - 1/19/2018

Jan. 19--A jury convicted Lamarjrick Malone of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a child under 14 on Jan. 12, 2018. The jury then sentenced Malone to 90 years of confinement. First Assistant District Attorney Will Thompson and Assistant District Attorney Ken Leatherman tried the case in the 13th Judicial District Court.

The jury found that on June 14, 2016, Malone forced himself onto his 7-year-old daughter. This brave young child then called 911 while Malone was in the bathroom after the attack. Even though she was terrified, she still managed to tell the arriving officer what happened to her. The subsequent investigation and DNA analysis found Malone's semen inside her.

Thompson praised the consummate professionalism of everyone involved in the investigation and prosecution: 911 dispatcher Jordan Bauer, Corsicana Police Officer Joe Aguilar, Det. Michael Dockery, and Forensic interviewer Lydia Bailey. Each of these individuals played a critical role in getting this young child to safety and bringing her attacker to justice. The organization Bikers Against Child Abuse also sent a small army of volunteers to escort the victim into the court room and support her while she testified.

"I appreciate the jury's patience and diligence in following the rule of law," said Leatherman. "I also appreciate law enforcement for their hard work and dedication in bringing a pedophile to justice."

Navarro County District Attorney R. Lowell Thompson said "I'm proud of thse two prosecutors and everyone involved in this case. Verdicts like this demonstrate my office's stance on crimes against women and children."
