Police seek 'person of interest' in life-threatening battery case

Belleville News-Democrat - 1/20/2018

Jan. 20--O'Fallon Police on Saturday were seeking a 34-year-old man in connection with a domestic battery where a woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police were calling Paul M. Beaumont a "person of interest" in the battery of a woman on Saturday morning.

According to a press release, police were called to 1713 W. Highway 50 for a domestic battery. When officers arrived they found a woman who suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

O'Fallon Police Lt. Dave Matevey said Beaumont was residing at the address, but police had not yet interviewed the woman Saturday morning. He would not elaborate on the relationship between Beaumont and the woman.

"She has not been able to communicate with us yet," Matevey said Saturday morning.

Beaumont fled the house on foot, Matevey said. Beaumont didn't have a car, but it is possible someone picked him up from the area.

Beaumont is 6 feet tall and weighs 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, an orange shirt and one shoe, Matevey said.

"If you see him, do not approach him," Matevey said. "Call the O'Fallon Police and leave it to us."

Police were asking anyone with information to call O'Fallon Police Department at (618) 624-4545.
