BRIEF: McLaughlin man denies sexual abuse of a minor charges

Jan. 21--A McLaughlin man has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of sexual abuse of a minor, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jerome Goodhouse, 26, was indicted in October and made his initial appearance this month before Magistrate Judge William Gerdes. He's charged aggravated sexual abuse of a minor and abusive sexual contact of a minor by force.

The maximum penalty is life in custody and a $250,000 fine.

Goodhouse is accused of knowingly engaging in and attempting to engage in sexual contact with a minor on April 5, 2016. He was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
