News & Observer - 2/12/2018

Feb. 12--CARY -- A tip from WakeMed Cary Hospital that a child had suspicious injuries led to the arrest of a Cary man who has been charged with attempted first degree murder and felony child abuse.

A woman took her 4-year-old child to WakeMed with severe injuries on Thursday, Cary police said in a news release.

Emergency staff at the hospital reported the suspicious injuries to the Cary Police Department, following hospital protocol, the release said.

Ronald Frazier, 27, of the 100 block of Clancy Circle in Cary was arrested Friday and charged with assault on a female and felony assault by strangulation -- charges from a separate incident.

While in custody, he was charged with attempted first degree murder and felony child abuse on Sunday.

The multiple charges could be related, Cary police said.

Frazier is being held at the Wake County Public Safety Center.

The investigation is ongoing. Cary police are asking anyone with additional information to call the Cary Police Department at 919-469-4012 or report a tip anonymously to Cary Crime Stoppers at 919-460-4636.
